What Lessons Can We Learn From Jezebel?

MPj04358860000[1] Like father (not necessarily) like daughter. Jezebel chose to follow in her evil father’s footsteps. We can choose otherwise. History provides a great example but a terrible excuse.

Ruling your country is one thing; ruling your husband is another. God offers a different model of leadership. Though we are equal in God’s eyes and co-laborers in the kingdom, in the home the husband is the head of the wife.

No one wants to work for a witch. When we have a legitimate leadership role, let’s do it with grace and compassion.

The only person who saw Ahab as weak was Jezebel. It may be our strong-willed nature – and not their weak-willed one – that makes them appear “less than.” Let’s pray for a gentler, more supportive spirit.

    Hi,
Sorry I missed last week, I missed all of you bad girls:) I think that the one thing I have been struggling to learn is that I do not “rule” my husband. I used to have a powerful position and had over two hundred people under me and I thought he was just one more. Very bad girl. I have learned through different seasons of my life that my husbad is the leader of our home. It actually feels good to finally surrendered to that.
I will be out of town next week too,
    Love in Him,
    Janna

I was out of town this past weekend and missed the bible study. I just read the chapter today (better late than never, right??), and unfortunately could relate to some of Jezebel’s traits. I, too, have struggled with being the submissive wife. I have come a long way from the beginning of my marriage 10 years ago, but still have not totally surrendered. I need to download Justin’s sermon about submission that he gave a couple of months ago and listen to it on a regular basis.

I will be out of town this weekend too but will continue to read about these bad girls.

    Blessings,
    Sharon
